The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the traditional Chinese festivals. It is scheduled on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. It is also known as the Duanyang Festival and the Mid-day Festival. Its origin is related to exorcising epidemics and avoiding evil spirits, and commemorating historical figures such as Qu Yuan. The core customs include dragon boat racing, eating zongzi, hanging mugwort, wearing sachets, etc., which carry profound cultural connotations. ‌‌

Origin of the Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival originated from the Chu poet Chengyuan who committed suicide by jumping into the river during the Cheng Dynasty. In order to prevent fish and shrimp from eating his body, the people threw zongzi into the river, which gradually evolved into traditional customs such as eating zongzi.
